In 1946, Bill began his printing career with the Charlotte Observer. After serving in the Navy, He returned to the industry, becoming a bindery plant supervisor then, later, manager of a graphics arts supply firm.  After working in press sales fro both Miehle and King, he became, in 1970, one of the first U.S. representatives for Muller-Martini, covering bindery and inserting machines.  During a break in his stay at Muller, Bill served as operations director for Lindsey Newpapers and completed the Harvard Business School executive training program.  In 1992, after two years with Quipp systems of Miami, Bill Joined ALTA as a specialist in mailroom and bindery equipment.
